Mike Kelley.

Mike Kelley seems like a really cool guy. I think it is interesting in the article when they say he "picked up where pop art left off," I think that is an interesting overall concept. I like the work they described, the stuffed animals sewn together into one blanket. Thats a cool idea because the stuffed animals where objects a child once loved, but now, like the article said, they are being sold at a flee market. Its to bad he killed himself, especially considering the amount of money he was making. I quickly googled his art after reading this article, it is very colorful and collective. Collective art is interesting to me.

My Crit.

My Crit. Went better than expected, I think I was harder on myself personally than the students where in class. I didn't feel like the part I disliked about the piece, the background of the pro-gay boy scouts poster, was ever really resolved. I still dislike it but also I still don't know what to do with it. At this point I feel like making a solid rainbow background over a gradient rainbow background wont make that much of a difference, and if it dose it will be slight. Also people have to hop off the grammar wagon, yeah its important if your going to print stuff. But this is all changeable, typos happen. We should be concentrating on the design. Im ok with mentioning things are spelt wrong or improper grammar was used but after that drop it. Also i'm really impressed with my classmates skill level in these programs. I really liked all of the projects presented, people are so talented.

Oh No Helvetica

I watched the Documentary about helvetica. Thats why i'm typing this in helvetica. Helvetica is a type face that was created in Switzerland. At first everyone was excited about the newness and the cleanness of the font. It was most modern. But then, like everything new and exciting, it became over used. They people started to hate it and tried to go against it. And that was fun I guess.  Like the lady from Tyler School of Art said, "Helvetica is the reason for the Vietnam war," and I think i'm going to get that tattooed on my body somewhere...anyway the point of the documentary is that some people really...REALLY like type face.
